Resetting The Thermostat

Heater Specifications

1. My heater won’t turn on?
 1) Make sure the power source is good. Plug in a lamp to see if it works correctly.
 2) Make sure the front power switch is set to the “ON” position.
 3) Turn the thermostat dial left until it stops and then turn it to the right until it stops. You should have heard a click. Continue to the next step if you heard a click. If you didn’t hear a click, try resetting the thermostat. (see Resetting the Thermostat, page 9)
 4) Remember, it will take a few minutes for the heater to warm up. The fan will start to blow after the heater has warmed up.
 5) Note: If your heater has been stored in a freezing or near freezing environment you might not hear the thermostat dial click. Bring the heater inside to warm up for a short while before operating. If you still don’t hear the click, see Resetting the Thermostat, page 9.

 2. My heater isn’t shutting off?

  • Did you try turning down the thermostat a few degrees? Turn down till you hear a click. The heaters are rated for an 8 foot ceiling, an open floor plan and a good insulation. If you have chopped up floor plan (hallways, multiple rooms, openings between rooms), your heater will not shut off because it is trying to keep up with heat loading the area. The good news is it is extremely affordable to run. Many customers let their units run constantly as an alternative to heating with their original expensive heat source.

 3. My heater isn’t heating the room properly?

  • Try placing the heater on an interior wall?
  • Are you using it in conjunction with your furnace?
  • What type of floor is the heater on? (Cement, tile, etc are porous surfaces that can absorb a lot of the heat)
  • Is the room well insulated? A room with little insulation or many windows will not retain a lot of the heat.

 4. Why does the blower fan keep running after I have turned off the rocker switch?

The Blower Fan will continue to run until the proprietary heat chambers have cooled down. After a few minutes the fan will shut off automatically.

 5. What is the warranty on the heater?

The EdenPure and SunTwin Heaters have a manufacturer 30-day Money-Back Guarantee (15% re-stocking fee) and a 1-year manufacturers warranty.

 6. What is the life expectancy of the heater?

The EdenPure and SunTwin heaters both have a life expectancy of 10-15 years.

 7. Can the heating elements be replaced?

Yes. The unit does carry a 1-year warranty so if at any time during this period something would happen with the unit we will replace/repair your unit. After the warranty period you would need to contact our company so that we can advise you of the replacement procedures at that time. (The manufacture is in the process of setting up a network of service centers around the US for repairs.)

 8. What is the life expectancy for the Quartz Elements?

Average element life is 5000+ hours or approximately 3 to 5 years. The Quartz Elements are replaceable by an authorized service dealer.

 9. My thermostat setting is higher/lower than I want it to be?

All Bi-Metal Mechanical Line Voltage thermostats are less accurate than digital thermostats, yet they are more durable. Pre-set dial placement and a differential rating of +/- 3 degrees also play a role in accuracy. This is absolutely normal and consistent with all Bi-Metal Mechanical Line Voltage thermostats. If the heater is maintaining your comfort level, it is working correctly. Your thermostat may need to be recalibrated due to being jostled around in shipping or other uncontrollable factors such as altitude which could alter the preset calibration. For example; the room temperature is 65º F but the thermostat dial clicks on or off when pointing at 50º F. You may want to reset the thermostat dial to click on or off when pointing at 65º F. If this describes your situation you may need to have your thermostat recalibrated.

10. My power cord or plug is hot?

This is usually when the cord is plugged into a loose fitting receptacle. It can also be caused by overloading the circuit with more appliances than recommended, using an unapproved extension cord, plug adapter, or power strip.

 11. Can I use a surge protector or power strip with my heater?

NO. It is designed to plug directly into a grounded 110 volt 15 amp or higher circuit receptacle.

12. Can I use an extension cord with my heater?

Avoid the use of extension cords because the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of fire, however if you have to use an extension cord, the cord shall be no. 14awg minimum size and rated not less than 1875 watts. The extension cord shall be a 3 wire cord with a grounding type cord and plug connector.

 13. I don’t have a grounded outlet; can I use a cord adapter or remove the grounding plug?

NO. If you don’t have a grounded outlet, contact a licensed electrician in your area for advice. Removing or altering any part of the heater will void the warranty.

 14. Can I use the heater and another appliance at the same time?

Yes, as long as they are not on the same circuit. Zone heaters are considered to be an appliance. You should not run more than one larger appliance on a single circuit breaker. Your freezer, refrigerator, microwave oven, washing machine, dryer, and other such appliances should not share a circuit breaker.

 15. Can I use more than one heater at a time?

Yes, but you should make sure they are not on the same circuit. Each heater and appliance should be on its own circuit.

 16. Can I move the heater around while it is operating?

It is not recommended to move any portable heater while it is operating. We recommend moving the heater once the fan has completely turned off.

17. How many kilowatts per hour does the heater use?

Heater models 1000, 1500, and LED were tested by an independent lab in a home environment and determined to use 1.263 kilowatts per hour. Heater models 500 and 750 use approximately half the kilowatts per hour as the 1000, 1500, and LED models.

18. What is the BTU Rating for the heaters?

First tell the customer the BTUs are:
Model 500 and 750 heaters are approximately 2300 BTUs.
Model 1000, 1500, and LED heaters are approximately 5000 BTUs.

However, BTU rating is insignificant and you cannot compare BTUs to other types of heaters on the market.
The BTUs are basically irrelevant as a unit of measure since the patented heating process of the EdenPure INTENTIONALLY does not operate using old inefficient methods of heat combustion, which is rated by using the BTU rule.
EdenPure and SunTwin incorporates a soft heat exchange process using infrared quartz technology coupled with a “patented” heat exchange process by using all natural heat treated copper “heat exchange” chambers. This patented heating process is a complete departure from traditional methods due to NOT using typical burning heat sources to heat. Therefore, the BTU rating method is not a legitimate comparison since this soft heat process is totally different than conventional combustion type heat. Our heating method is far superior for efficiency, safety, and comfort while providing a natural healthy indoor environment.

 19. Is the heater UL Approved?

The manufacture is currently working on obtaining UL Approval; however most components in the unit are already UL Approved.

20. Does the heater have an A-1 Insurance Rating?

NO.
21. Is the heater harmful to pets and/or children?

NO.

 22. The heater’s airflow seems to have diminished?

Make sure the rear intake is not blocked and that the filter is clean. Follow the Filter Maintenance procedure. (see # 23)

 23. Do the heaters have filters? How do I clean the filter?

The EdenPure and SunTwin heaters come equipped with a washable lifetime filter which is easy to clean. The manufacturer recommends the filter be cleaned once a month or as needed. To do this, follow these steps:
 1) Pull up on the latches on each side of the filter to release the filter. Remove it from the rear of the unit by tilting out and lifting up at the same time.
 2) Run warm tap water over the filter, the opposite direction of air flow, until water runs clear. The filter might excrete some filtered residue, so be cautious not to drip on any stainable surfaces such as carpeting. You can also soak the filter in water mixed with a small amount of mild dish soap (don’t forget to rinse with water after soaking filter).
 3) Shake the filter over a sink until excess water is removed and allow it to drip dry completely before reinstalling. DO NOT force the filter to dry using any alternative methods.
 4) Reinstall the filter to the rear of the unit and secure side latches by raising them up and locking them down in place.

 24. How long has the unit been on the market?

The technology of this unit has been on the market for approximately 25 years, we have since re-engineered the heater to increase efficiency and heat output.

 25. Where can I view the heater information online?

 26. Does the heater generate ions?

Yes, a small amount of negative ions.

 27. What is ABS?

ABS is a heat resistant copolymer (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene).

 28. Do the heaters have wheels?

The EdenPure 1000, SunTwin 1500 and SunTwin LED all have wheels.
The EdenPure 500 and SunTwin 750 do not have wheels.

 29. How is this heater different from others I have heard about?

The EdenPure and SunTwin heaters heat with uniformed pressure. The heat goes from wall to wall, floor to ceiling. It will not reduce humidity or oxygen in the room or put toxins into the room. It also uses electricity to generate infrared light, which creates a very safe heat that will not reach a burning temperature. The unit uses up to 35% - 50% less energy than other heating methods to create this safe heat.

30. Where is the heater made?

The EdenPure and SunTwin heaters are manufactured overseas in Asia.

 31. Does the heater have a thermostat?

Yes, the heater has a Honeywell thermostat that ranges from low to high.

 32. How loud should my heater be?

The heater noise was measured at 49.9 DBA (decibels) during independent lab testing. The League for the Hard of Hearing provided a report showing the typical DBS’s for items found in a home:
Refrigerator 50 Electric Toothbrush 50-60 Washing Machine 50-75 Air Conditioner 50-75 Electric Shaver 50-80 Coffee Percolator 55 Dish Washer 55-70 Sewing Machine 60 TV Audio 70 Garbage Disposal 70-95 Hair Dryer 60-95

 34. What is Zone Heating?

Zone heating is all about focusing heat where people spend the most time. After all, there is no point to heating multiple rooms to 68+ degrees when they are not in use.

 35. My home is not insulated very well, will this heater help me?

Yes, but keep in mind that rooms with little insulation will not retain the heat as efficiently.

 36. Once I initially plug the unit in and turn it on how long will it take to heat my room?

Generally, it takes less than an hour. Please remember that with any type of heating process there are many variables: size of the room, how well the room is insulated, how many door/windows, how much bare concrete (which acts as a heat sink with any type of heating), the opening and closing of an exterior door, etc…

37. Can I use the heater on a job/construction site?

The heater was not designed to be used in a high dust construction environment. Using the heater for this purpose will void your warranty.

38. Can the heater be used in a bathroom?

It is not recommended due to the moisture that is in a bathroom.

 39. Can I use the heater if I have vaulted ceilings or cathedral ceilings?

Yes, but it will take a little longer to heat the room initially. Once the room has reached the desired temperature the heater will cycle on and off accordingly.

 40. Will I be able to use the heater in a basement or garage?

Yes, but keep in mind that rooms with little insulation will not retain the heat as efficiently. Bare concrete floors, which act as a heat sink with any type of heating will absorb some of the heat. Placing the heater a few feet above the floor will allow for more efficient heating.

41. Can I use the heater to heat multiple rooms at one time?

Yes. Keep in mind that heating will vary based on how open your floor plan is and the sizes of the rooms involved. We have heard back from many customers stating that with the help of ceiling fans they have been able to heat multiple rooms simultaneously by placing the unit in a central room.

42. Where is the nearest dealer to my house?

Currently the manufacturer is setting up dealers nationwide. As of right now the best way to buy is via our website. www.edenpurestore.com or by calling 1-888-499-8656

43. What to do if the unit is damaged in shipping?
We offer free shipping and handling for the Continental United States. The Units are shipped via UPS Ground. If the unit gets damaged in shipping please contact customers service and we will issue a call tag, pick up the damaged unit and send you a new one.

44. Do you have any kind of payment plans?
Affordable heat offers the lowest prices and the fastest shipping of anyone in the US. Currently there is not financing. Many customers buy using a major credit card and make payments using their monthly credit minimum payment requirements.

45. How can I buy something I can’t see?
We are proud to offer a 30 day money back guarantee. We offer this because we want you to have the time to see how great these units are. We have nothing to hide, they sell themselves!

46. Can I leave the unit plugged in all day?
Yes it is safe to leave plugged in and run all day.

47. What does it cost to run the units?
If you take the cost per killowat hour located on your utility bill (usually around .06 to .08) and mulitply it by 1.263 (how many killowats the large unit uses) that will give you a good estimate of cost. Its about .10 per hour on a national average.

48. How do I get replacement part and how much will they cost? Are there any local dealers currently providing repair services?
Currently authorized service centers are being set up around the US. Infrared replacement elements(aprox $12 to $15) have an expected life of 3 to 5 years. If replacements are needed, please contact www.rppurchase.com to find a dealer in your area.

49. Could I use Edenpure heaters as my main source of heat?
It would require more than one unit to maintain a good heat load. I would recommend getting one and see how well it works. They are rated to heat up to a 1000 sq feet but that is if it is a wide open area with no floor plan and an 8 ft ceiling and a high R VALUE insulation. If you have a floor plan you can estimate about 6 to 8 hundred sq feet being heated efficiently instead of the 1000.

50. Is there a store we can actually visit to see the heaters?
www.edenpurestore.com does not have a physcial retail location. We are one of the largest dealers in the US and offer the fastest shpping times and lowest prices available. All units are shipped to your door in less than 10 business days. Most others require 4 to 6 weeks to ship.

51. What is the difference between the SunTWIN and the EdenPURE?
They are the exact same heater internally. Externally the SunTWIN is an all wood cabinet where the EdenPURE is a black plastic cabinet.

52. What is the difference between SunTWIN/EdenPURE products and the competition?
Clarifications regarding “knock-off” versions of the patented and proprietary EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® Quartz Infrared Heaters

Sun Cloud
The Sun Cloud heater was one of the first to try to emulate the effectiveness of the EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® heat.
Due to the fact that the technology utilized by EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® is patented, Sun Cloud was forced to use a different method.
The chosen method of Sun Cloud uses “light bulbs” that heat up in the hopes that the heat will transfer. If the “light bulb” system worked according to our standards, SCI / Resource Partners would use and advance the technology.
The weight of the Sun Cloud units are almost twice as much as the EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin®,making them very difficult to move around.
Sun Cloud is not an authorized representative of EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® and only prefers to use our registered and Trade-marked names in the hopes of luring customers.

Portable Furnace
Marketing a Sun Cloud heater but using a different name.
Claims to have over 25 years of history but can easily be traced to having no proprietary history at all.
Portable Furnace is not an authorized representative of EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® and only prefers to use our registered and trademarked names in the hopes of luring customers.

Sun Heat
Mostly sold via “here today and gone tomorrow tent sales” that travel from town to town without regards to future customer relations.
This is the latest “knock-off” model and has many things that need to be altered within the unit itself.

EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin®

~ Straight talk ~

An accurate assessment of SCI / Resource Partners’
Patented EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin®Quartz Infrared portable heaters.

SCI / Resource Partners is the only licensed manufacturer of the patented and proprietary EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® Quartz Infrared Portable Heaters.
All portrayals of the EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® Quartz Infrared Portable Heaters are referring to the original and patented Sun Twin® Cozy Heater design, not their own method of heating.
EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® Heaters are sold on TV, Paul Harvey News, USA Today, and thousands of additional media outlets. In conjunction with those purchase opportunities SCI / Resource Partners is proud to announce the opportunity to purchase through Authorized Sales and/or Service Centers that arestrategically located throughout the country.SCI / Resource Partners is expanding these “customer first” stores on a daily basis.
Authorized EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin® Sales and Service Centers provide a “hands on” opportunity for customers to receive product education in addition to a confident purchase backed with service. No need to ship back to the manufacturer!
When companies such as Portable Furnace, Sun Cloud, and Sun Heat speak of “over 30 years of history”, they are referring back to the patented Sun Twin® history, not their own.
EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin®technology is proven with close to 30 years of satisfied customers providing ideas in addition to independent field test labs. This fact forces other companies to try different and unproven methods of heating in the hopes of obtaining the EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin®results.
The EdenPURE™ and Sun Twin®heaters are number one in patented and proprietary Quartz Infrared Heating technology.
SCI / Resource Partners is the world’s leader in Quartz Infrared Heaters with sales at least 10 times that of any competitor.
Internet consumers are being misguided when websites use the name EdenPURE™ to bring folks to their site when they have no EdenPURE™ products to sale. The consumer is immediately confronted with misrepresentation by the company using this method.
When a competing company enters a relationship with their potential customer via misleading tactics, it only enforces the fact that the claims made by the company are questionable at best. Consumers today are very educated and most will not purchase from companies that misrepresent themselves.

The choice of SCI / Resource Partners is to provide consumers with accurate information. We have invested millions to insure we have the absolute best portable heaters on the market. This attempt at the misleading comparison located below was recently brought to our attention. As always, SCI / Resource Partners trust the savvy of consumers and we feel confident that when you have all the facts in front of you will choose what’s best for your needs.
Our statement is written in blue text.

Question The Portable Furnace EdenPURE(TM)
Sun Twin(R)
Quartz Heater

Is it easy to replace the bulbs? YES! Screws in like a light bulb. AND, our bulbs are guaranteed for 3 years. NO. You have to ship the heater back to manufacturer for replacement. Wrong; Our heaters can be sent directly to your local sales and service center. We do not use inefficient “light bulbs”…EdenPURE and Sun Twin utilize patented, proprietary infrared technology combined with proven, copper heat absorbing chambers that do not require a constant and costly re-heating of light bulbs.

Will it shut off if it gets too hot? YES! The portable furnace comes with a high-limit safety switch that monitors the temperature inside the heater. NO. Wrong; EdenPURE and Sun Twin doesn’t get too hot. Again, light bulbs have that issue, our infrared process does not… however the hi-limit switch is also included in our proprietary system.

Is it tested to UL standards? YES! The portable furnace meets UL standards (1278) as well as standards in Canada (CSA) and Europe (ETA). NO. Wrong; Our units are also UL Listed and approved for sale in all areas.

Does it have a heat exchanger like a real furnace? YES! This allows for maximum efficiency to transfer heat. NO. Heat is transferred through copper tubing. RIGHT!Our patented process utilizes infrared and copper. Have you ever seen a “furnace” utilize light bulbs? Neither have we.

A-1 Insurance rated? YES! NO. Really?Ask to see proof.
How long is the warranty? 3 years with extended warranty avaliable up to 6 years. 1 year. Wrong: Manufactures warranty only…our Sales and ServiceCenters also offer extended warranties.

Initial Setup

(Taken from owners manual) 1. Unpackage heater: cut open tape area, fold back flaps and gently turn entire box upside down. Lift box from styrofoam packing. Remove styrofoam, turn upright. We recommend keeping the packaging for off season storage and any transporting needs.

 2. Find a level and unobstructed location to place the unpackaged heater.

 3. Plug the power cord directly into an unused grounded110 volt 15 amp or higher circuit receptacle. Push the red rocker switch located on the front grill to the “I” position to turn it on; it will glow red when powered on.

 4. Set the thermostat to the highest setting. In one to two minutes the fan will turn on and start delivering safe comfortable heat evenly for maximum efficiency.

 5. When the temperature has reached a comfortable level, slowly turn the thermostat down until you hear a slight click. The thermostat will then cycle the heater on and off to maintain your desired temperature.

 6. If you press the rocker switch to the off position “O” during a heat cycle, the fan will run until all internal heat has been expelled.

Thermostat Notes
When you first turn on the heater
  • Set the thermostat to the highest setting (ignoring the degree setting). In one to two minutes the fan will turn on and start delivering safe comfortable heat evenly for maximum efficiency.
  • When the temperature has reached a comfortable level, slowly turn the thermostat down until you hear a slight click. The thermostat will then cycle the heater on and off to maintain your desired temperature.

Remember
  • There is a cooling off period once the heater reaches the desired temperature and the air coming out may feel slightly cooler.
  • The heater will run approximately 5 to 10 minutes after shutting it off to cool down the heating elements.
  • The Honeywell thermostat is a bi-metal mechanical line voltage thermostat.
  • All Bi-Metal Mechanical Line Voltage thermostats are less accurate than digital thermostats, yet they are more durable. Pre-set dial placement and a differential rating of +/- 3 degrees also play a role in accuracy. This is absolutely normal and consistent with all Bi-Metal Mechanical Line Voltage thermostats. If the heater is maintaining your comfort level, it is working correctly.
